One of the reasons I haven’t posted much here is because I am a writer….okay… journalist… by trade and there are times I just do not feel like writing for the sake of it. Sometimes I’d rather talk or just think or just…be…without any need to impart my wisdumb.
I really shouldn’t think along those lines…or that line; “for the sake of it”. This is for the sake of me. That’s why I have this blog. That’s why we all have blogs.
I also ‘belong’ to a blogging community of writers. This was my introduction to the blogging world.
When I first got ‘accepted’ (because the writers were sourced through media job ads), my husband said to me; “Darling…you’ve finally got a pedestal from which to share your opinion”.
Let me re-word that. Let me also add what he actually meant.
He said; “Darling….you’ve finally got a pedestal from which to tell others what their opinion should be!”
There is some truth in that.
Aneewayy.
This blogging community?…some of the best writers I have ever read write here. Incredible stuff. Easy to lose an hour or two…days! Like with all blogging communities, a myriad of genres and styles and topics. And personalities.
….sigh….
But…everyone is just so “damaged”…”different”…”misunderstood”…blah, blah boring.
Okay not everyone. There are quite a few people I enjoy…consider them ‘friends’ and this, for someone like me, is weird but that’s another post hoc, ergo propter hoc.
I’m very much a glass overflowing kinda gal. Doris Day-ngerous. Que sera sera but I’ll damn well do my best to make it so! I choose the right to not give in to self pity and woe is me crap but fuck…talk about serving up a platitude.
I feel, and this is just my arrogance masquerading as humility manifesting as opinion, that giving vent to too much angst inevitably leads to drowning in it.
Let’s face it…when was the last time you saw “How To Lose Your Confidence” and “10 Tips For Unhappy People” and “The Road To Failure” on the bestseller lists?
AND please….please….let us not kid ourselves.
We do not blog “for myself”. We do not blog to be unread. We do not blog so that no one sees it. We do not blog for absolute privacy.
We blog for recognition. We blog to share. We blog because we want to tell people what we think.
To say that a blogger blogs purely for privacy and for themselves “just to get my thoughts out and I don’t want anyone to read what I write…”…
Buy a fricken pen, put it to fricken paper and keep the fricken angst under your mattress.
