Elec-shun…

November 27, 2007

Well.  Wow.  Talk about Elec-stun.  I am quite stunned at the outcome of the Australian Election.  As was the rest of the party we were at.  And in.

Alcohol is such a democratic social lubricant…celebrate or commiserate…the bubbles create sham pain…

One of the many aspects of self that I do not have any desire to share nor express here, on this blog, is my political afiliation/persuasion/opinion.  I’m going to do my best to leave it that way.

I prefer to argue my view point vocally and in the face to face of adversity or unity.  And I’ve done that to bits now…

Will state that my interest in Politics runs deep…family history, an objective understanding, a wish for the greater community to see the Big Picture and not focus on one detail…although I do like details, focusing consistently on one or two point, robs the I of the capacity to appreciate the whole.  Instead you’re seeing the hole.

Change for the sake of change is not neccssarily a good thing so I fervently hope that this result does not do damage.  I’d like to give the victors the benefit of the doubt and sincerely hope that life as we know it, does not become…laborious.

Gamma Mia Culprit…

I did something really silly yesterday.  I spammed a celebrity.

Okay, it’s not quite that bad nor that good.  It was a personal email and the person is not a celebrity on a Global supernova scale…but still.

The person in question is someone I have admired, professionally and personality-wise for a long long time.  I have followed her career with interest not because I’m a freakin’ nutter but because we are around the same age (I’m older) and were in the same industry, although she was a captain of a ship and I, merely a skipper of a shipment.

Anyway…the horrible by-product of celebrity, on any level, is that absolute strangers feel that they know the famous person, and therefore feel free to be ‘casual’ and ‘familiar’ with them.  I hate that.  In my very very small way I know what that feels like (way back in my past)…so I simply cannot believe I tripped the light fantastic and fell into that trap…”hi…I think you’re fabulous..I’d like to send you a gift…just because…” (more…)

Motto-vate

November 22, 2007

Is it arrogant to proclaim that my new motto is:

Great spirits have often encountered violent opposition from mediocre minds

…or is that just an excuse for frustration?

I have been asked this question before, as to what my motto is…to which I have answered, “well currently I drive a…”.  Yes, I’m an idiot but I’ve always thought that a supremely stupid question.  A bit like asking someone if they’re alright when you see them lying in a pool of blood.  I’ve never had a motto or if I have, it’s dependant on how I’m feeling the day I get asked. © The GammaBag (more…)

Mascara(nt)

November 12, 2007

The problem with too much choice is that it takes away the freedom to choose quickly.

I mean seriously…what if there was more than 2 wires to cut?  Or to be or not to be or to sort of be and or sort of not to be or to be a little or not to be a lot or to…you get the picture.

© The GammaBag GammaBlogNow I know you’re waiting for some thunderous explosion of enlightenment but I’m just talking about mascara.  Yeah.  Mascara.  As in cosmetic application used to enhance, and embellish even, the natural volume and curve of eyelashes. (more…)

Happy Gamma Diwali

November 9, 2007

Namaste and Happy Diwali

Diwali (or Deepawali) is the Hindu Festival of Lights, celebrated to highlight the banishment of darkness and the victory of good over evil.

It is celebrated to mark the triumphant occasion of Lord Rama’s return to his kingdom Ayodhya, after spending 14 years in exile and after he vanquished the demon King Ravan.

Light is symbolic of the positive forces at work. We see the light. The light dawns…the darkness doesn’t fade. Through bursts of concentrated effort and dynamight…it explodes into illumination…and thus Diwali is mainly the celebration of ones inner light.

Gam(ma)blerDusk on Meldrench Cup day

November 6, 2007

…well it sure as hell wasn’t Melbourne Cup Day.  geddit?  geddit??  ah sheesh.  I crack myself up.  Twas paradise if you’re a fish.  Or a drought stricken country…which we are and have I used that lame ass line before?  Probably.  I need new material.© The GammaBag GammaBlog

Anyway, I’m so not a gambler of any monetary sort.  I don’t even like horseracing unless it’s a 2 or 4 wheeler beast with horsepower…or a perfect 10 Brumby ‘ghosting’ through enemy defense and…oh sigh…why did he have to retire?…and why can’t I just stay on track?…geddit?  geddit??…Forgive me.  I am writing this incredible journalistic/literary revelation at an odd hour…the title is a reference to GlamDusk (more…)
